minirosetta = rosetta3. We called it mini while it was in development, because it started out a lot smaller than Rosetta++. The Rosetta3 MIE paper (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21187238) describes how Rosetta3 came from Rosetta++ (which was Rosetta2).
One of the rosetta3 applications is itself called minirosetta. This is the app that goes out on BOINC for Rosetta@HOME, and was so named to distinguish it from rosetta++ on Rosetta@HOME, but unfortunately some developers are lazy and never gave their code standalone executables, so the only way to access some code is through that minirosetta application.
