Research Summary
De novo design of membrane proteins and nanopores
Research Description
we are interested in the de novo design of membrane proteins. We investigate the basic principles of folding/stability of transmembrane beta-barrels and develop new computational methods to design beta-barrels with new properties and structures. In parallel, we develop new experimental approaches for low- to high-throughput validation of the membrane protein designs. We pursue applications in the engineering of nanopore for single molecule sensing and the development of beta-vaccines against Gram-negative bacteria.
